Important Safety Tips and Considerations

Emergencies and breakdowns

- In case of emergency, call Ride-It UTV Rentals right away!  Do not leave vehicle unattended, even if it is disabled.

Do not drive beyond your true driving capabilities

- Know your own limits and don't go beyond your level of skill.

UTVs handle differently than quads, etc.

- Operating a UTV is quite different than driving other off-road vehicles.  Take some time to familiarize yourself with it and get comfortable.

Wear your helmet

- Everyone that rides in the Can-am is expected to wear a helmet, which is the law in California.

Obey any speed limits and always be aware of your surroundings

- Check your blind spots and know who is around you, etc.

Do not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, etc. while driving!

We expect that you, and anyone else in your party who drives the Can-am, will NOT be under the influence of any substance that causes impairment.  Being fully present and alert while driving is crucial for everyone's safety!  (This includes alcohol, illegal drugs, and weed, as well as any prescription medication  and any over-the-counter medication that could impair driving ability.)

DO NOT do donuts!

- Yes, it is absolutely tempting, but it's an extremely common way to get hurt and damage the vehicle.  We have personally had customers do this, and they would tell you it is definitely not worth it.

Avoid making sharp turns at high speeds

- This is a surefire way to flip the vehicle and cause damage to it and occupants.

Do not do any jumps if you cannot clearly see what is on the other side  (ex: going up a hill)

- This could result in collisions or unexpected falls, etc.

Don't follow too closely

- Be careful to not follow other vehicles too closely.  Give yourself enough time to stop in case something unexpected happens.

Seatbelts should be securely fastened

- Make sure that your shoulder harness straps are not twisted, that both buckles are securely clipped, and that the pull tabs are adjusted to fit snugly.

Head on

- If another vehicle is approaching you head on, move to the right to avoid a collision.

Roll Over

- In the event of a roll-over, it is crucial to not put your hands, etc., outside of the vehicle, or they can get crushed.  Instead, hold onto your seatbelt harness tightly at the chest, or hold onto the designated handholds in the vehicle.  Turn vehicle off immediately.

NO rock crawling!

- Our vehicle is not equipped with the additional features that are necessary to successfully rock crawl.

Racing

- Do not race or participate in any contests, as a lot of accidents or vehicle damage happens this way.

Speed Laws, Private Property, etc.

- Be sure to obey state and legal laws where signs are posted.  Stay on marked trails and do not ride over any wildlife, vegetation, etc.  Do not go onto private property or protected land.

Don't "drive it like you stole it"

- Drive it like you don't want to cause any damage to the Can-am (or trailer) because you want your security deposit back!

Do not drive through people's campsites

- It may feel like a faster route, but it's poor etiquette.

Pack it in, pack it out

- Don't leave trash, etc. behind (this includes it anything breaks on the Can-am while you're driving around).

Don't blast your music

-  People enjoy different styles of music, so if others are around wherever you're off-roading, it's is best to not be playing your music super loud.

Speed Limit and Pedestrians

- Be mindful of any posted speed limit signs and watch out for people walking around and other vehicles.  Standard speed limit when off trails tends to be 15mph.
